Testimonials

I have spent a lot of time over the past few years custom building excel based spreadsheets to help me clearly and simply articulate some basic financial planning concepts to my clients. After spending countless hours designing these spreadsheets, I finally decided to stop trying to recreate the wheel and look for an alternative. So, I did a search online and found www.planningtemplates.com. I purchased the Planning Templates advisor version to assist me in my effort to educate my clients and to save myself the time of customizing spreadsheets every time a new question arose. These templates have saved me many hours of laborious analysis and have been incredibly helpful and user friendly. They make logical sense, flow smoothly and clients "get" them. These spreadsheets help me show my clients how changes to their savings and spending will impact their ability to achieve their long term goals, why they should consider paying or not off a mortgage, how much money they need to set aside for retirement planning and education funding, among many others.

I have been pleased with the product and very satisfied with the incredibly responsive, detailed technical support I have received. My Planning Templates contact responds quickly and thoroughly to my questions and is extremely receptive to any suggestions or feedback about the product. I would recommend Planning Templates to advisors who are in search of a comprehensive, simple to use, easy to understand excel based product.

Anyone who considers themselves a "financial planner," should consider purchasing Planning Templates. How could this product benefit such a wide spectrum of an industry?

If you have been "planning" for a while, you probably have one of the high-end integrated planning packages. I don't know about anyone else, but I hate booting-up a big program just to provide an answer to a generally small question to which a client wants an answer over the phone. Since the Planning Templates are a set of non-integrated Excel spreadsheets they are quickly booted, data is easily entered, and an answer appears in seconds. Since the reports are high quality, I have no qualms about sending them to clients.

How about if you are new to "planning" and don't want to spend a lot of money? Planning Templates is the perfect answer. Plus, you get to see "how it works" when making financial decisions.

I have used Planning Templates for several years and would recommend them to all my peers

Planning Templates has been an excellent adjunct to my primary planning software, to quickly address smaller issues that fit into the bigger financial plan. I've always received quick responses to my questions, the software has been easy for me to use, and I tend to be computer-challenged! Definitely an excellent tool to have on hand.

Planning Templates has provided the flexibility for me in planning issues for my clients. I can work 'what if' scenarios, or do some quick number crunching to solve immediate issues, illustrate various strategies or perform in-depth, detailed analysis of a clients overall financial picture with relative ease. The company has been extremely helpful and receptive as issues have arisen and assistance was needed. You can pay much more for products that print tons of pages (mostly containing fluff and filler) detailing the same thing as that you can produce with Planning Templates. Planning Templates produces what you need without all the extra filler that most clients won't read.

I have found Planning Templates made to order for meeting the needs of my clients. Most require advising on one issue, retirement planning for example, and the modular approach Planning Templates provides is ideal for them.

In a financial world full of growing complexities, Planning Templates is a simple and effective tool to communicate essential information to your clients in an understandable manner.

Planning Templates eases client’s concerns when wondering if they "left something out" of their financial asset or future needs picture.

Planning Templates effectively alerts clients to weak links in their financial planning, and makes the task simpler for the advisor. Seldom does a simple Excel spreadsheet achieve this much.

Regarding the Planning Templates Stand-Alone Asset Allocation Tool:

“Planning Templates has taken a very convoluted area to address with client’s [asset allocation rebalancing] and put it in a simple to present format. The beauty of the product is not only the simplicity of understanding for clients, but the clarity for the planner in seeing the flow of numbers, as it is a familiar Excel-based file. Client clarity leads to client action. What more could you want?

Thank you, and keep up your outstanding efforts”.

The templates help me help my clients by providing a well-rounded picture of their financial situation. The projections and the graphics help convey the overall message about how they're doing and what else needs to be done.

I've been using Planning Templates in my work as an Investment Advisor for the past two years, with every client I have. They're great and they work on my favorite computers, Apple Macintoshes.

When I started with my current Broker Dealer in 2001, I had the occasion to review several Financial Analysis software tools. I found some to be quite good, however overly comprehensive and bulky, both in data entry and in report-outputs. Additionally, despite the discounts available through my B/D, I found the prices for such programs to be cost-prohibitive.

Thus, I ended up finding the Planning Templates Advisor Version that incorporated something I already had familiarity with: Excel. This excel-based program has dozens of tabs within it, all with pre-formatted and printable, macro-embedded calculation pages. It is scaleable, in that if a client was only interested in planning for College Savings for example, a cover sheet and the Education Planning pages could be utilized and printed. The program addresses many planning concerns in this manner. Together, these printed pages can be assembled into a very useful working document. Many clients have said to me that after our meeting that I presented these concepts that "you explained 'all this stuff' in a way that even I could understand..." I attribute a great deal of the simplification of complex ideas to the printouts I generated from using Planning Templates. Best of all, it was very affordable. I have been thankful for this program.

I have just used the basic life insurance needs worksheet along with the college funding sheet for data to put into the life insurance needs program. It is a very easy to use program and very understandable by the clients. I have sold several million dollars of insurance using the program. Probably the best software dollars I ever spent.

Planning Templates are just that: simple yet comprehensive and easy to use templates that help evaluate and clarify where clients are, and where they need to be. I recommend them highly.

A.V. Martin Garneau, CIM, FMA, CFP®, PL.FIN. Canada

In 25 years as a financial planner I have tried 8 different FP software programs, most of which produce far too much information or way to little. If you're at all like me, you want simplicity, accuracy, and you want it now! The Planning Templates allow me to produce a very broad array of reports, but just the reports I want, in any order I want them. I won't be looking for software again!

D.P. Registered Principal, CFP®, Montana

The Planning Template file is a wonderful reporting tool to illustrate client’s current net worth and spending patterns. The accompanying graphs help my clients visualize where their resources are coming from and being used. Thanks again for an easy to use worksheet model and one that is easy for my clients to understand.

R. F. P., CFP®, Massachusetts

I use it just about everyday - it's a great product.
